Darwin in Science and Society

An interdisciplinary symposium

4/5 September 2009

University of Zurich, Campus Irchel

Charles Darwin and the publication of his theory of evolution: 2009 can be celebrated not only as the 200th anniversary of the birth of this exceptional scientist but also as the 150th anniversary of the publication of his key work «On the Origin of Species». To mark this double anniversary, the swiss-academies are organising a symposium focussing on the interaction in the interpretation and further development of the theory of evolution between the sciences on one hand and the humanities and social sciences on the other hand.
